Editor Union- 5 ' ; We have had some very cold disagreeable weather the latter jxirtof winter, but it is warmer now and tne jreen . vegetation is showing up nicely while the warble war-ble of the birds indicate that spring has coma to stay. , The hot winds that sweep over the desert! in the summer will likely sear the, ; green herbage to some extent. . . The South Western Mining Co., has two large teams hauling ore from their properties to the mills, where; the stamps are kept busy pulverizing the rock from which the free gold is extracted. Other companies have commenced commenc-ed work in this vicinity and the indications in-dications are that the camp will be. a lively one during the season. I. spent Christmas holidays in the Muddy Valley at Overton, and had a good time except when I was caught in a storm on Now Years night, nor is the weather calm yet in that vicinity for Bazors and Jack-knives .seem to be flying through the air. i think they will settle in the big Arena at Carson City for the largest purse offered, ril bet my money on Jack-knife.
