New this, so far, is very good, to look forward and protect ourselves from loss, but can we not do this much cheaper than the way . we are doing it now? As we cer- tainly do not get back but a very small amount we pay away, would it not bo a good plan for us to- organize or-ganize a real Home Fire Insurance Insur-ance Company in this c;ty, and instead in-stead of paying away a large amount of money, let us appoint officers from among ourselves and insure v-our v-our property at a certain per cant- f age less than its real value, and then make out agreements for each property owner that wishes to y' join and bind ourselves, in case ' of fire of any of the property of said company, that we will s'y pay & certain specified amount, ?tf and we will then be on hand to meet oar share of the loss, and in such case we will keep our money at home and yet be secure in our homes and have our ready cash for onr own use instead of paying it away to those who have no interest in our welfare only to get our means to keep a number of agents who live on the fat of the land, at the expense of those whose means is obtained by their honest toil. Let us try it. -Who ' will lead out in this matter? Tanik. INSURANCE. One thing we need is to take care of what we have, and in order to do this , in a proper manner, is to put our means to good use, and to be as far as possible, independent; and this true principle has been taught U3 by the leaders of this people from the earliest period of our history. The question may bo asked how can we do any better than we are doiug? I will state one way that we as residents of this little city, of St George, can do a great deal better than we are doing.
