Notwithstanding the stringent . warning we gave to melon and fruit thieves some time since, there seems to be but little or no abatement in . some of their depredations, and we have heard men say that they will surely use a shot gun if the depredations dep-redations are not promptly discon-tinued. discon-tinued. We wonder what parents, are thinking of that the father has not taken steps long ago to know where their sons are and what they are do ing at night, before some one does do the deplorable act of taking away their life for their robberies. A large number of the rising generation gen-eration (and even some young men) need sending to a reform school, for too many of them are little better than highway robbers, for when you take anything that belong to your neighbors, you are robbing them of just that much, and making yourself a robber in very deed and a curse to the community in which you reside.' Fathers try and see where your sons are after night and keep them out of bad company. If the sons are taken care of, mothers will have less trouble to take care of their daughters, daugh-ters, and consequently the gatherings gather-ings of depredating crouds will be broken up in the near future. The lone pilferer should also desist, "Do as you would be done by," and "Let him that has stole steal no more," are admonitions that should fee strictly adhered to. The good old song says "Do what is right, let the consequence follow," and oh, how free from remorse are the con-sciences con-sciences of those who have lived up to these quotations to thebest of their ability |
