Show the rest there. There is room for three more stars, one each at the left hand end of the second and fourth rows from the bottom and at the right hand end of the second row from the top. These spaces were left purposely for the accommodation of New Mexico, Arizonr and Oklahoma, Okla-homa, when they are admitted. FairhaAen World-Herald. On the Fourth of July next a fortyfifth star will be added to the American ilag. The Stars and Stripes have seen many changes. In 1795 there were fifteen stars and fifteen stripes, but in 18 18 congress passed a law directing that henceforth hence-forth there should be thirteen stripes, in honor of the original thirteen states, and that on the Fourth of July following the admission of every new state a star should be added to the lue union of the flag. And since that act congress has never said a word about the flag. It never directed di-rected what the size or proportions of the flag should be, and how the ; stars should be arranged. So the war and navy despartments each designed their own flag, arranging their own flag, arranging the stars to suit themselves. Lately, however, how-ever, the two departments have come to an understanding,, and hereafter there will be but one standard and official flag. The new star representing Utah, is one at the right hand end of the third row from the bottom. It was represented on the official draft by an extra star cut out of paper and pasted on.
