Thanks. t "The Type Founder," published by Barnhart Bros. & Spindler, Chicago, III., contains many New faces of Type, some of which are quite a novelty. From David M. Richardson, Detroit, Mich., a Pamphlet, entitled, "Our Country," &c, and in our next we will give our views'on part of the contents thereof. Wc have received Nos. i, 4,and 5, of the Contributor, Contrib-utor, Published at Salt Lake City. It is a valuable valua-ble periodical and should be more extensively patronized. See adv. From Snider & Holmes, Paper Dealers, St. Louis, Mo., a neat Calendar for 1SS3, with a "Beauty and Kitten1' at the top and their Business Card in the centre. A beautiful chromo, "Hereford . Group,'' from T. L. Miller Co., Beecher 111. Well gotten up and portrays the excellent breed of Stock they deal in. Sec adv. J. C. Vaughan's (Chicago,) Corn and Potato Manual is worthy a perusal by every Farmer and Gardener, contains much valuable reading and historical sketches. Thanks. "The American Garden,1' published by B. K. Bliss fe Sons, 34 Barclay St., New York, is truly an interesting and valuable publication and worth more than the subscription price, $1 a year. 3 "The (Jacksonville,) Florida Dispatch" has , coirmenced a new volume and have a new heading head-ing and engraved headings for the various departments. de-partments. It is very interesting and we would like to see patronized in this vicinity. At the end nf the year it will make a neat book valuable for the Library. We have received the Title-page and Index ro Vol. 1, and intend binding it soon. We greatfullv acknowledge the receipt, from the Publisher, Daniel Tyler, of a copy of the "History of the Mormon Battalion,'1 bv D. Tyler a large book containing 376 pages. Tlio Introduction Intro-duction contains a narrative "The Martyrdom of Joseph Smith," by Prest.John Taylor, and "The-Monnons," "The-Monnons," by Thomas L. Kane, showing the situation sit-uation of the Latter-day Saints prior to their enlisting en-listing as the "Mormon Battalion." Then there is an excellent Poem by E. R. Snow, entitled "The Mormon Battalion, and first Wagon Road across the Great American Desert.1' Then follows fol-lows a history of the Mormon Battalion, very ucidly written, portraying the routes of their journey, &c. and the trials they passed through, various data, lists of oflicrs and privates, and giving, at the end of the book, a list of the surviv-ers surviv-ers of the Battalion, their residence and occupation, occupa-tion, as far as known. The book is printed wiUi large, clear type, and is worthy a place in every Library, and every Latter-day Saint should possess pos-sess a copy. Price $2.50. For Sale byJohn Pymm, St. George, Utah. |
