Show Trial Marriage Frowned on by French Officials Paris. The question whether trial marriages ought not to be tolerated by French law has been raised by) an Incident which has just occurred In Morocco. One Maurice Addad, a Moroccan Mor-occan Jew, presented himself at a registration office and asked that , the official seal be affixed to a contract of bethrothal. This contract provided that he and his fiancee should be betrothed j for 18 months, but that during that time they should share the same dwelling on terms of perfect freedom. The bethothal, in fact, was to amount to a trial marriage. The officials refused to set their . seals upon . such a contract, although It was witnessed by the parents of both the young man and the girl. |
