Show UTAH HOUSE FAVORS DERN Memorial To President-elect Room velt Wins Fast Action In The Lower Assembly. Former overnor George H. Dern was indorsed by the Utah house of representatives Tuesday for appointment ap-pointment as secretary of the Interior In-terior In President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt's cabinet. The Ben-ate Ben-ate referred the matter in routine procedure to Its state and municipal munici-pal affairs committee. The concurrent ' resolution follows: fol-lows: r "Whereas, the state of Utah la one of the large public land states of the west and is otherwise vitally vit-ally interested in the administration administra-tion of the department of the interior, in-terior, and "Whereas, the secretary of the interior should have a thorough and complete knowledge of the west and be equipped by ability, training and experience to meet the important existent and prospective pros-pective problems to be considered and acted upon by that department depart-ment of the government, Now, therefore, be it resolved that the governor of the state of Utah and the legislature of the state of Utah, in session assembled, assemb-led, deeply appreciate the necessity neces-sity of securing the appointment of a man' eminently and thoroughly thorough-ly qualified in every way for this great public service, and therefore, recommend , to JPresident-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt that he appoint ap-point our able and distinguished fellow citizen, former Governor George H. Dern to this high office, of-fice, and, further, we urge upon the said former Governor George H. Dern in the event said appointment appoint-ment be tendered to him that he accept this important position of trust as a service to his country and an honor to his state. "Be is further resolved that a copy of this memorial be sent to President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt Roose-velt and to each member of the congressional delegation from this, state, and that a copy thereof also be sent to former Governor George H. Dern upon it passage." |
