She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernell Turnbow. Joy is in her Junior year at Tabiona High School. She gave a reading read-ing accompanying herself at the piano, of "AGirl Is Like A Melody". Her escort-was La Vere Fabrizio. The first attendant was Pat Lamb who is a Senior, her Tabiona Mews by Florence Turnbow THE DAUGHTER'S OF UTAH PIONEERS ENTERTAIN. The daughters of the Utah Pioneers will entertain their husbands, February 14, Monday at the Tabiona Ward Chapel. A special invitation is to every married person in the community commun-ity to come join in the fun. A pot luck supper is planned alonj with a real good evening of entertainment. Irene -Gines is confined in her home suffering from Rheumatic Rheu-matic Fever again. A special Scout meeting was presented Sunday evening at the Tabiona Ward. Bob Smith Scout Master and assistant Arvel Rhoades, presided Tex Gines an Eagle Scout, conducted con-ducted the meeting and welcomed wel-comed the crowd. The colors were presented and the Pledge of Alligence was said. Prayer was by Brent Jones. Scouts who talked on different phases of scouting were Ronald Lefler, Lance Webb, Kevin Van Tassell, La Von Gines, Clyde and Aaron Rhoades, Bruce Jones, and Kent Hackett. Remarks by Bob Smith and Ralph Erickson. A special number was presented by Owen Van Tassell who accompanied ac-companied himself with the guitar. This-is Scout week and Scouts are to wear their uniforms. Those from Tabiona Relief. Society to attend Stake Turnbow, Turn-bow, Vida Curry, Nettie Carlile, Hazel Defa and Florence Turnbow. Mrs Afton Giles presented a special number, a solo, "IWalked in Godfs Garden". Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Defa celebrated their 42 years of marriage Saturday. Their two children and grandchildren came, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Rhoades of Granger, and Mr. and Mrs. Alva Defa and family fam-ily of Salt Lake City. escort was Keith Rhoades. The second attendant was Sherri Williams and her escort was Rickie Williams. Sherrie is in the 10th grade in High School. The hall was beautifully decorated dec-orated with a valentine theme. Seven beautiful cakes were given to lucky winners, Deon Rhoades, Charleene Williams, Sherri Williams, La Von Giles, Joy Turnbow, and Carolyn Giles. Marsha and Marva Turnbow Turn-bow celebrated their 10th birthday Saturday. February 5th, at their home. The theme was a valentine party. Games were played and refreshments served. Mr. and Mrs. Bernell S Turnbow and Daughter Carol, a room mate, Miss Norma Penaman, left Saturday for a 2 day visit at Mr. and Mrs. Standley Picketts and Mrs. Lela Willden at Gunnison. They all went thru the Manti Temple Saturday due to heavy snow stormSunday, The family fam-ily had to return home by bus. The first and second Beehive Bee-hive classes of Tabiona went to Duchesne Tuesday evening to attend the Beehive meeting entitled "Precious Gems". Special Numbers from Tabiona were Mrs. Rene Morin who talked on the Ruby. Tresa Ellertson gave the welcoming address. Mrs. DeAnn DeLange and Mrs. Afton Giles are the beehive teachers. The girls and their parents were present at the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Arvel Rhoades and Keith spent Saturday visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Duane Rhoades of Provo and at Salt Lake City. They came home sporting a new Buick. Keith spent Visitors at Elvin Lewis was Susanne, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Webb, Mrs. Mary White and children of Salt Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Chatwin and son of Heber was visiting during the week-end at Mr. and Mrs. Earl Van Tassells. At Testimony meeting Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. James Giles had their Baby girl named. She was named jMachelle The blessing was by Max Giles of Salt Lake City. Machelle Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ivie of Salt Lake city have nameH Shelly T&e, Arthur Fabrizio said die blessing! Confermation of Hal Robert? and Teresa Giles was named by Davis Roberts. They were babtized Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Ottos en of Roosevelt Ro-osevelt were at the meeting in honor of their grandson Hal. The annual "Daddy Date" was enjoyed Saturday evening " at the Tabiona Ward Chapel for the 3 classes of girls at Primary, the Gaynotes, Firelights, Fire-lights, and Merrihands along with their daddy s. A box theme was carried out with large sparking boxes around the'Tabiona Chapel with pink steamerscoming down from the boxes. A big "Hi" Daddy on the wall. A tribute to the fathers was given by Linnette Morin, two skits were presented presen-ted by Sherlyn Humes, Shelia Ellertson and Donna Eversole. Around 45 girls were there to join in the fun such as dads putting . rollers in the girls hair and other fun games. A box lunch was given to everyone. every-one. The girls had beautifully , decorated the boxes. Teachers who supervised the evening were Rene Moron, Carol Jones and Carleen Williams. Winter came again to Tabonia Sunday when around 12 to 14 inches of new snow fell. Monday morning got off to a slow start, with the lanes full of snow , and some children child-ren were late for school. At Mr. and Mrs. Bernell Turnbows last week were several young BYU students who came with Reid Richard and Merrill. Carol Turnbow from Salt Lake brought several of her friends home for the weekend. They enjoyed a sleigh riding party Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Dave Bear-dall Bear-dall of Salt Lake City spent last Saturday visiting Joseph Rhoades. A Ward budget play is underway with Mrs. Nina Gines as director. Those who are learning the play are Afton Giles, Ralph Reickson, LeRoy Roberts, Leslie Giles, Jean Fabrizio and Evelyn Webb. It will be presented at the last of the month. It will be announced at a later date. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Webb of Salt Lake City are planning to go to the Salt Lake Temple next Monday February 14. Mr. and Mrs. Leonal Webb plan to go with them. |
