Show AMERICAN LEGION ORATORIC A T CONTEST WINNERS ANNOUNCED Sandra Bleazard and Roger Lacy, first and second place winners, pictured with James E. Lenastz, Bonanza, district nine commander, the American Legion, sponsors of the American oratory contest. The contest was held at the Ashley Valley Junior High School at Vernal, February 22. SANDRA BLEAZARD WINNER IN JR. DIVISION ORATORICAL Sandra Bleazard, Altamont, won first place in the junior division of the National High School Oratorical Contest sponsored by District Nine of The American Legion. The contest was held at the Ashley Valley Junior High School February 22. Sandra's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Grant Bleazard, Blea-zard, Talmage. Roger Lacy, Ashley Valley Junior High School student, won the runner-up award. His parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Lacy, Vernal. Other contestants were . Diane Miles, Altamont; Susan Johnson, Vernal; and Colleen Freeman, Duchesne. Mrs. Dona Hansen went from Duchesne to be one of the judges. Mr. and Mrs. Herman Freeman, Colleen's parents, and Elden R. Wilcken attended the contest, from Duchesne. Other judges were Myra Mitchell, Altamont; Lynn Gotfredson, Eros Bowden, and Pete Santee, VernaX Theme of the contest was "What the Constitution Means to Teen-Age America-1966. America-1966. " Arden Stewart, Vernal, Americanism chairman for Dis- trict Nine, The American Legion, presented trophy awards to the winners. James E. Len-arts, Len-arts, Jensen Post, and District Commander of The American Legion, assisted with conducting conduct-ing the contest. |
