Show Soup Supper Would you like to establish an individual style of your very own and yet entertain with easy elegance? Then consider the possibility of suppers from a tureen. Meal-in-a-dish soup suppers, great favorites in every era of history, are more than ever in tune with modern party meals -and family fare. They fit right into the diet-light routine that governs so much of our present eating pattern. So do green salads for accompaniment, especially es-pecially when tossed with a dressing made with low-calory Italian salad-dressing mix. A fruit-flavor gelatin dessert is the perfect finale for a meal designed de-signed for those who must watch their weight, as well as those who have no quarrel with calories. Tureen suppers are right any night, but on certain nights nothing in the world can taste as good as soup. PARTY HOTCH-POTCH 2 frankfurters, 1 can (10 ozs.) thinly sliced condensed 2 tbsps. chopped beef-noodle onion ' soup 2 tbsps. butter or 1 can (10 ozs.) margarine condensed 1 can (11)4 ozs.) vegetable soup condensed 2 soup cans bean -with- water bacon soup Grated Parmesan cheese Brown sliced frankfurters and. onion in butter. Stir in soups and water. Heat, stirring now and then. Garnish with cheese. Makes 6 to 8 servings. CREAMY CHICKEN GUMBO 1 can (10 ozs.) 1 soup can milk condensed soup can water cream-of- 1 tbsp. chopped chicken soup parsley 1 can (10& ozs.) Va tsp. curry condensei powder chicken gumbo soup Combine all ingredients. Heat, stirring stir-ring now and then, but do not boil. Makes 4 to 5 servings. MOLDED fnVIT COMPOTE 2 pkfi. (&oz,' 1 medium apple, each) straw- ' diced berry-banana- 1 can (8 ozs.) flavor gelatin pineapple 2 cups boiling tidbits, drained water 2 medium 114 caps cold water bananas, 2 oranges, ' sliced sectioned and Almond drained Creamy Sauce Dissolve gelatin in boiling water. Add cold water. Chill until very thick. Fold In fruits. Spoon into mold. Chill until firm (about 5 hours or overnight). Serve with Almond Creamy Sauce. Makes 7i cups or 10 to 12 servings. ALMOND CREAMY SAUCE 2 cups cold milk . y4 cup toasted 1 pkg. vanilla ; almonds Instant pudding : (3 ozs.) Pour milk into a mixing bowl. Add vanilla instant pudding. Beat slowly with rotary beater just until blended, about 1 or 2 minutes. Let stand to set for 5 minutes. Stir before serving. Top with toasted slivered almonds. |
