Show 4 States Mull Colorado Project Bill The four upper states of the Col- . orado River Basin sent representatives rep-resentatives to a ttvo-state meeting which opened Tuesday on river problems. Their chief objective was to discuss an agreement concerning con-cerning the Colorado River Basin Project bill pending in Congress. The meeting was called to hear views of engineering engi-neering and legal committees of the Upper Colorado River Commission. Com-mission. Utah on Hand Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico and Utah were represented. repre-sented. The discussions dealt chiefly with the proposed Central Arizona Ari-zona Project, which a spokesman spokes-man said would take an additional addi-tional 1,200,000 acre-feet of water wa-ter from the Colorado River. Since this project wilt depend to some extent on water not now being used in the Upper Basin, the four upper states are concerned about safeguards in the legislation to guarantee their own future water developments develop-ments One of the main problems is provision for adequate storage in the Upper Basin's Glen Canyon Can-yon Dam on the river. Project Okeh Another is a proposal by Colorado Colo-rado for authorization of water projects in the Upper Basin, mostly in western Colorado. State officials, water attorneys and representatives of water agencies attended the meeting. |
