Show Mrs. Maryetta Moon Sampson Samp-son and children of Provo stayed, at the Elmer R. Moon home during the Moon's recent trip to California. Mr. Sampson came to Duchesne during the weekend Mrs. Marie Baum has return ed to her home in Duchesne after spending a few days at the home of a daughter, Mr. G Mrs. George (Elva) Wedig at Vernal. Ted Johnson of Salt Lake City and two sons, were recent guests at the home of friends in the Strawberry area, including the Vaughn Letts and the Wilbur Bates. Mr. & Mrs. Bob Odekirk and family of Kearns spent Sunday at Duchesne with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Odekirk, and visited with other relatives and friends in the area. Mrs. Gladys Odekirk reports she had a letter from the Marvel Mar-vel L. Moores1 from Wellsville, N. Y. , stating they are happy to receive Duchesne's newspapet The Duchesne Eagle, which Mrs. Odekirk had sent to them while they are serving at LDS . Church mission. Mrs. Maxine Taylor is recovering re-covering from major surgery which she underwent Feb. U at the Cottonwood Hospital at Murray. She is expected to be home this weekend, reports her husband, James LaDell Taylor. The Taylors have received word that their 20-year-old son, Howard, arrived in South Vietnam Viet-nam on Feb. 4 and is stationed 300 miles north of Saigon. The Duchesne County Board of Education was host to a dinner din-ner party for the officials and their wives who came to Duchesne Duch-esne Thursday for the dedication of the new school building. The dinner party was served at the Frostop. Don Mayhew attended a Postmasters Sectional Conference in Salt Lake City last Wed. He rode into the city with Clark Roberts, Postmaster at Myton. John Jolley (husband of the former Valeer Mayhew from Utahn) and three sons, John Rayj Jaren & Vance from San Bernardino, Bern-ardino, Calif, visited at the Don Mayhew home Sat, afternoon. after-noon. The men were enroute home with a new panel truck to use in their newspaper business. They flew by Jet from Calif, to pick up the truck. While in the area Don drove them up to Utahn so the boys could see the area and home where their mother was raised. I Bret Brown was bitten by a stray Muskrat Sat. Several children were apparently playing together when the muskrat came on the scene. Being children, they attempted to play with the animal, when it bit Bret on the thumb. He was given a tetnus shot by the county nurse and re- j turned to his home. Attempts to capture the animal and have him tested for rabies was in vain , Mr. & Mrs. Ervin Cole attended a showing of self- service ser-vice laundry equipment Sat. at the Salt Lake City Airport. Western West-ern Airlines had equipped one of their passenger planes with all the latest self-service equipment. equip-ment. The Coles plan to enlarge en-large their laundermat in the near future. Tuesday visitors at the home of Mr. & Mrs.' Bert Bancroft were Mrs. Irma Miller and children Nancy and Dennis, Mr. & Mrs. Bruce Olsen and daughters, Kathy and Pam. They enjoyed a delightful reunion before they returned to their home in Salt Lake City. Mr. & Mrs. Bob Odekirk and family from Kearns, visited in Duchesne Sunday with their fam ily and friends. Linda Lance was home for a few days before leaving for New Orleans shere she is planning to stay with her sister, Mrs. Caroline Carol-ine Breakfield. Mrs. Afton Bromley was hostess to her bridge club Mon. . night. Attending were, Mr. & Mrs. Dave Thomas, Mrs. TTielda Halstead, Mrs. Hildur Brooks, Mrs. Edna Conn, Mrs. Ann Step hens en, Mrs. Phyllis Day and Mrs. Myrtle Anderton. High prize went to Mrs. Hal-stead Hal-stead with second going to Mrs. Anderton. Consolation prizes were won by Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Thomas. Mr. & Mrs. Gilbert Horrocks,' Shelly and Jimmy Ray were out for the weekend visiting with Mrs. Carrie Hatch. |
