once said that he could judge the character of the people of a community community ity by determining the manner in which they cared for their dead If there be much fact in in this statement statement state state- t ment people coming down do Indian canyon into Duchesne Duchesne Duchesne Du Du- chesne cannot be too favorably T impressed n with the li character of Duchesne's citizens Our cemetery is far from an impressive sight in spite of improvements made in the past few v years Sorriest of all the conditions concerning the cemetery is the haphazard fashion in which graves have been dug Twice vice the cemetery has been platted and stakes set designating blocks and lots Stakes and markings were vere soon lost however vever and a recent I survey urvey y of the cemetery shows such conditions as the head of a family in one lot with other members across I the line in the adjoining lot parts of graves extending extending extending extend extend- ing into streets and sidewalks side graves set at an angle or across the line from one lot to another and graves set in in the middle of lots so that only half the available space can be utilized In an effort to correct this condition and prevent further such haphazard action another survey of the cemetery has been ordered and records are being compiled of all burials To eliminate the possibility of future unidentified graves a city burial permit will vill willbe willbe be required in in the future and the applicant must submit submit sub sub- mit complete vital statistics for the deceased The small fee connected with this is for the
