Show I 11 I IA A BETTER WATER VATER WORKS SYSTEM 1 We are hearing comments from from- this citizen or that about the P. P W. W A. A projects constantly being approved for new nv water vater works systems for cities and towns to throughout the country The trouble is that mere comment does not accomplish results If Duchesne wants to have a real waterworks vater system tern tem and by that we ve mean complete replacement of all old vorn worn out wood stave pipe in town to and either a pipe line to the spring at U Utahn or far en enough ugh up the he river to insure plenty lenty of pressure and the installation of a real filtering and purifying plant it is is going to require action and there is never a better time for this action than right now v. We have of course the present WP A project ct which we ve understand is now to go ahead ahead without interruption tion until the pipe is laid but at best this is a sort of temporary project A P. P W. W A. A project eliminating all the difficulties and troubles of our present system and with half or nearly half of the co cost st cov covered red byj by Federal Grant should prove no more expensive to the city than the upkeep of our present worn vorn out system With Duchesne's culinary water vater in its present dangerous dangerous dangerous dan dan- condition the public health department will vill without doubt lend every assistance possible and with election time staring us in the face we ve can think of no more opportune time f for r the citizens of oJ Duchesne Duchesne Duchesne Du Du- chesne to get behind the city council stir th them nl up if necessary and put forth foth an effort to get such a pro prop started yet this fall THE DEMOCRATIC COUNTY CONVENTION While it is not our practice in this column to enter into political discussions there are some observances concerning the democratic county convention at Roosevelt last Saturday which are worthwhile to mention as they could be applied to any party in the I same saIne circumstances The campaign centering around the county chairmanship chairmanship chair chair- chiT manship proved the futility of conducting a negative campaign for such it was vas until just a few v minutes before the convention started Any planning that was vas done all the efforts spent were directed toward vard the unseating of the incumbent chairman with no indication indication indi indi- cation as as' to whom might be persuaded d to accept the position in in his place Had the campaign been positive that is is hada had fight been made for fora a new v chairman in- in tead r-tead of against the incumbent the result might easi easi- ly 1 y have been different What is more important at least to Duchesne county coun coun- county ty democrats who hope to see their ticket win vin out in the coming elections is this Since Mr Madsen was theoretically dethroned as Democratic county chairman chair chair- chairman man at the convention and was Tas then reelected to the same position fairly openly and unquestionably the controversy should be ended there and Mr Madse Madsen Madsen Mad- Mad se sen should receive full and unquestioned support as democratic chairman from those who vho cast their votes under the rooster Mr Madsen's enthusiasm and energy en en- energy ergy as a campaigner have never been questioned but only through support can these qualities bring the results the democrats desire Highly complimentary to Duchesne and one of its leaders was vas the action of the Uintah county delegates delegates dele dele- gates who joined in the nomination by y acclamation of Mr Billings for the state senate While it has been customary for this position to be traded back and forth between Duchesne and Uintah counties there is is no definite rule to this effect and the unquestioned support of the Uintah county delegates still remains a complimentary token to tp Duchesne D chesne county and Mr B Billings I I 1 L.
