Show Old Basin Pioneer Passes Passes' In Duchesne Buried Burled In Calif California George Hemphill 81 of Anaheim Ana Ana- helm heim Calif one of the earliest settlers on the Blue Bench died in Duchesne Friday evening Oct at the home of his daughter Hazel Hemphill Orr He had been visiting with his daughter here since last July and expected to return to California soon Mr Hemphill was born in Ireland Ireland Ireland Ire Ire- land on December 23 1854 a son of Mary and Michael Hemphill He came to the United States 60 years ago and resided for years in Silverton Colorado where he engaged engaged engaged en en- In hi the mercantile business At the opening of the reservation reservation reservation reserva reserva- tion in 1905 he took up a homestead homestead home home- stead on Blue Blu Bench near Duchesne Duchesne Duchesne Du Du- Du- Du chesne where he lived with his I wife Clara Anderson Hemphill and children for many years later later later lat lat- lat lat- er moving to a ranch near My Myton ton and then nine years ago moving to Anaheim Calif 3 1 I Mrs Hemphill died in Anaheim several years ago and in July of this year his youngest son Thomas Thom Thom- as WI with whom he was living was killed in an automobile accident It was at this time that he came cameto cameto cameto to Duchesne for a visit with his daughter He is survived by his daughter Mrs Hazel Orr Duchesne and two sons eons Denzil Hemphill My Myton ton and Everett Hemphill of Dallas Texas Funeral services were held in St. St Pauls Paul's Episcopal church in Duchesne Sunday afternoon under under un un- der the direction of the Roy A. A Mortuary with Reverend Reverend Rever Rever- end John Leacher of Roosevelt conducting the services Vocal selections were rendered by Mrs Babs Murdock and Mrs Fern T T. T Moffitt The church was filled to overflowing by the many many old time Um friends who were in attendance e both from Duchesne and My Myton ton A profusion of flowers surrounded surround d the casket during the services Immediately after the services the body was taken to Salt Lake City from where Mrs Orr accompanied accompanied accompanied it t to o Anaheim where interment interment in tn- s services were conducted Wednesday at and Mr body was buried beside be be- sIde side those of his wife wite and son eon |
