King ICing to get some help fo for Duchesne e County through reimbursement by the Indian Department De De- t or the Department of the Interior for loss of taxes on untaxed Indian lands His attempt in inthis inthis this direction was vas unsuccessful because of lack of funds and authority but the efforts of Relief director director director tor Hopkins were enlisted to see if something might be done through relief projects This is a fight Duchesne County has been carrying carrying carrying carry carry- ing on more or less in the background for several years The situation has now nov become so acute however however how how- ever that it is a paramount issue It is to be hoped that enough work york can be done on it to result in some favorable action during the next session of the legis legis- la lature ture The fact that Senator King brought the m matter u up P again while in Washington is at least encouraging and shows vs that we are not being entirely overlooked MIGHT fIGHT HELP And while director Hopkins is looking around for something to do in in our behalf a copy of the proposed rehabilitation plan for the county should hould be in in his hands for perusal We still find opinion pretty much divided on this plan but the trouble is is that those who vho are not wholly in favor of it have nothing to offer but a process of sitting and waiting UNAVOIDABLE ACCIDENTS Much of Duchesne County r is grieving this week with Dr and Mrs M M. C. C Campbell of Roosevelt over the loss of their only son 8 year old Mickey who vho was struck by an auto on the main streets of Roosevelt Roosevelt Roosevelt Roose Roose- velt last Thursday and died two days later No blame is being placed on the driver ver of the auto who vho was vas traveling at a normal rate of speed and had no chance to avert the tragedy and yet there should be no such thing as an unavoidable accident Little minds are too full of the joys of living to remember the constant warnings from mother mother mo mo- mo- mo ther and dad not to run into streets without looking both ways This is a crusade which must be constantly carried on by parents everywhere Our streets are ale becoming becoming becoming becom becom- ing more and more filled with fast moving traffic and anyone old or young who vho attempts to cross without without with with- out ut seeing that the way yay is clear is co committing J a ser set serIOUS serious ious bus error The CamPb els are to be highly commended on their sane attitude toward the affair and we ve join their then many friends friend in extending our |
