Show For the benefit of tho Logan press Truth will say that in this matter of tho Agricultural Collego It has been actuated by no desire to wreck that institution; that It does not want It removed from Logan; that It believes such institutions aro among tho best, if not tho host in tho land, and that all It desires is to havo tho collego run as an agricultural collego and by a gentleman fully competent to perform the duties. An Institution that teaches mechanical arts and tho science sci-ence of agriculture ought not to conflict con-flict with tho university, because one school of each kind is all tho state can stand for at this time. There may come a day when two universities and an agricultural college can bo supported support-ed by tho state, but even then this paper maintains that each should keep In Its proper channel. Mr. Kerr is not tho right man for tho place, and the Logan press knows it, yet the two papers pa-pers thero continue to boost him, knowing full woll that he Is behind all this trouble and turmoil. The Logan 'press accuses Truth of wanting to bring the Agricultural Collego to Salt Lake, when that is farthest from our Intentions. If tho collego faculty is reorganized and a man placed at tho head who is competent and who knows what should be done in such a school, Truth will support him, but we will not stand by and see a college, such as this ought to be, wrecked by the mismanagement of any person. Tho Journal and Republican can put this in their pipes and smoke it. |
