Show DEATH OF HON. R. C. LUND. In tho death of Robert C. Lund the stato loses one of Its best known, best beloved and most useful citizens. Mr. Lund's homo was In southern Utah and there his departure will bo the most keenly felt. Ho was not an old man, falling about twenty years short of tho biblical allotment of three score and ten, but In activity, right living and good acts ho lived far beyond the seventy-year limit. Ho camo to Utah with his parents when a mero child, and played an Important part In the upbuilding of tho stato and tho development devel-opment of its resources, particularly In Washington county, where he engaged en-gaged not only In agricultural pursuits, pur-suits, but in mining and smelting, being be-ing one of tho leading spirits in the well-known smelting concern of Wool-ley, Wool-ley, Lund and Judd, with headquarters headquar-ters at St. George. Mr. Lund at various va-rious times held public office. He was a member of the legislature some years ago, and for quite a number of years was a member of tho state board of equalization, holding that position po-sition at tho tlmo of his demise. Few men nro so loved and esteemed by their associates as was Mr. Lund. Everybody had a good word and a kindly feeling for him, and genuine sorrow is felt nt his sudden departurQ from tho field of usefulness in which ho was so well known and so much loved. To his bereaved family Truth and tho public generally offer slncero condolence. Ho earned his rownrd. May his rest bo sweet. o |
