For a number of years individuals and corporations havo carried on tho business on tho shore of tho great salt lake. Channels aro dug from the lake through which tho water flows on to tho level ground whero It spreads over to a depth of from six Inches to a foot. Tho sun's rays evaporates tho water leaving tho salt and other chemicals in tho form of a white powder, which may bo seen piled up In largo quantities in various parts of tho lake shore. The Inland Crystal Salt Company Is by far tho largest and best equipped concern en-gaged en-gaged In tho business. It has a large refinery to which tho salt sediment from tho water Is carried on steam cars. It Is there treated on tho most approved plan and purified from tho chemicals It contains and turno.l out as pure table salt, chlorido or sodium. Tho product Is an excellent quality of salt which Is used almost exclusively for homo consumption and many thousands thous-ands of tons are annually sent to other states. The officers of tho Inland Crystal Crys-tal Salt company aro: Joseph F. Smith, president; John II. Winder, vice president; presi-dent; I. A Clayton, secretary and treasurer; treas-urer; N. W.
