Show H WILL HISTORY REPEAT ITSELF. H It has been the history of political parties in America to strive, fcght and flourish and achieve a pr wcrful position where by properly wielding their great influence anu power they could have been able III to do an inestimable amount of good, but when they have reached the pinnacle of complete success with all the. fruits of victory at their disposal they have commenced to disintegrate and decay only to be succeeded by, another party or organization which in its turn again repeats the performance. Such has seemed to be the history of political po-litical parties. Here in Utah the history of political parties has not been any ex- . ception to the rule. It seems to be a fact that men will band together under the leadership of strong men and fight valiantly, earnestly and untiringly for policies, principles, rights and parties but when they succeed in winning the goal for which they have striven then the selfishness sel-fishness of men seems to become the predominant power, and the distribution dis-tribution of party patronage and pie becomes the paramount issue, and when one set of men get the pie they want and another set of men do not get what they want then division ensues and if victory continues to follow the party in power long enough it accomplishes its own undoing. The pages of history in Utah prove this statement without conr tention. At the present time there seems to be a disposition on the part of the dominant political power of this state to do that very thing which has undone countless political organizations in the past that is 1' the assumption on the part of one faction that there is a boss and a machine which is ruling autocratically and on the other hand a disposition dis-position on the part of the so-called boss and machine to say that ' there is no boss and machine and to prove this statement they proceed to read those making the accusation out of the party. Our advice to the politicians of the victorious party in this state is, get together and work together because it is much easier to be in power and have a good fat political position than it is to work for a living. And just so sure as this internal party fighting and contention conten-tion continues, it will result in the defeat of the party and the induction induc-tion of another party into power and office. |
