Show ANOTHER PIONEER IAM AT REST ribera funeral services over the remains of james B bowden an old resident and pioneer of thoele tooele who died august at purple springs alberta canada were held in the north ward meeting house sunday august 21 at 2 p in A large congregation 1 q andlovic and loved lovid one ones assembled to pay respects to another of our sturdy pioneers who had finished his mortal career bishop A L hanks conducted the services the ward choir under the leadership of Stanley johnson furnished the music during the services S W lee sang 0 my father and a solo was rendered by mrs A T crandall words of comfort consolation and praise of the life and works of the deceased were spoken by elder moroni england patriarch john A bevan and bishop councilor W H cassity elder philip delamare offered the benediction the interment took place in in the tooele city cemetery the grave was dedicated by elder H B hayness Hayn Haynes esil 0 james B bowden died very sudden while he was leading the purple springs choir at the funeral of mr chance mr bowden was born in morristown south wales march 26 and sailed for america in 1854 crossing the plains mains in 1860 in the john smith company taking up his residence in tooele thoele in 1851 1861 in january 1872 he was married to rhoda ann biker and to this union 15 children were born they resided in tooele thoele until 1909 when they moved to purple springs he was active in church circles being a member of the too ele choir for 25 year and secretary of the elders quorum for a number of years bes besides ides his wife he is survived by the following children W G bowden manyberries Many berries alta mrs mary meacham E S allen alien and R C bowden tabor taber alta mrs alice hodgson salt lake city utah C E bowden purple springs alta miss daisy bowden provo utah also 30 grandchildren sohn john T flinders of grantsville Grants ville was a transcript vitor aitor monday |
