| Show STOCKTON mrs marylene thomas for the third consecutive year stockton enjoyed a safe and sane pleasant fourth of july under the ces of the recreation corn com cittee the day started with a parade ap proximately a half mile long at 11 00 a in going the length of the highway through town lead ing the parade was the flag car ned ried by three boy scouts followed by uncle sam on horse back por brayed byam by wm edwards the town orchestra furnished music during the parade also playing a number of selections during the program which followed on the tennis court highlighting the parade was the king and queen of pioneer days mr and mrs john mills milis who rode in an old fashioned buggy drawn by two horses followed by a tiny colt the goddess of liberty and her attendants were the misses ruth benson anna lee lundsford and darlene johnson the flower girls were little elenor johnson and patsy cowan who rode in a white float with garlands of red roses mr and mrs joe sandino and party were the riders on excel lent mounts A number of inter esting floats buggies and wagons depicting the early days were part of the first half of the parade brigham young calvin nash of tooele thoele with a number of wives and children added much to the fun the last half of the parade was a minature parade headed by a large white motor boat wh which ich held many little tots many interesting and prettily decorated bicycles doll buggies minature mina fure covered wagons followed and a number of children in fascinating costumes danced and marched along the way after the parade an excellent program was held on the tennis court which had been covered over by large tarpaulins which made an excellent shelter from the sun and wind games and races followed in which young and old participate ed while being served ice cream and sodas at 4 00 p m an inter esting ball game was played on the ball grounds between erda and stockton stockton winning 25 11 to climax the perfect day a dance was held in the I 1 0 0 F hall the town orchestra furnishing the music the stockton club consisting of former residents of stockton whose meetings are usi fally held in salt lake city are coming to stockton on saturday evening july 26 and invite all present and former resi dents of stockton to attend a dance and box lunch in the 1 I 0 0 F hall mr mir and mrs alien allen bryan and family spent saturday evening in sandy guests of mr and mrs andy nelson mr and mrs ray maxfield spent the holiday weekend in vernal utah visiting with friends on their way home they visited with mr and mrs vane provost of mid way former residents of stockton |
