Show AF Yankees Defeat PG Yankees 10-6 in Colt League Action by Dean Von Memmott In Timpanogos Colt League action at American Fork's Rotary Rota-ry Park on June 21, the American Fork Yankees defeated the Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove Yankees 10-6. Hitting a single into left, American Fork's Josh Smith stole around the diamond to score a run on a passed ball in the top of the first. With Austin Smith doubling in Adam Tate, American Fork went on a four-run four-run rally. For the bottom of the first, Pleasant Grove's Hayden Sanderson Sand-erson singled off pitcher Tate, and got singled in by Mitch Houston, whom American Fork later pinched in a fielder's choice play at second. Glenn Palmer singled in Nate Sperry to. cut the lead to 4-2. Before Pleasant Grove could make further cuts to the lead that inning, Tate intercepted in-tercepted an Ashli Shulz fly ball, turning up a double play. Advanced to third by a Jacob Ja-cob Johnson single in the second, Jacob Johnson scored American Fork's fifth run. American Fork then held Pleasant Grove scoreless score-less in the bottom of the inning. One-run singles hit by Todd Healey and Colt Hale in the third improved the American Fork-ers' Fork-ers' lead at 7-2. On one out in the bottom of the third, Houston came home on a passed ball. With Dan Ingerson coming home on a passed ball in the fourth, a three-run rally ensued for American Ameri-can Fork. Improving their lead at 10-3 helped the American Fork Yankees to hold off a strong Pleasant Grove comeback in the bottom of the fourth. The comeback unfolded through Sanderson singling in Hunter Cannon. Pleasant Grove scored three fourth-inning fourth-inning runs on passed ball. American Fork belted Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove with a double Play-After Play-After Sperry had singled into left, Palmer grounded out, killing Pleasant Grove's last chance for rallying back. |
