Show Valley View Students Prepare for Christmas Festivities 1 k;' TTJ- - ... v: : - From hallways strung with Christmas countdown chains and lights to Christmas choir performances and classroom class-room parties, Valley View students have been preparing for their holiday celebration. Festivities will start on Thursday, December 16, when students will attend a Christmas assembly featuring the school choir, Kindergarten Snowman dance and the fifth grade recorder performance. Later that evening at 7 p.m., the school choir will give a second performance which will include a family fam-ily sing-in. Claudine Doyle, choir director, said the students stu-dents have worked very hard over the past several months ' in preparation for their upcoming up-coming performances. "The purpose of the choir is to help our students express themselves, develop an appreciation ap-preciation and love for music, and just have fun! We started start-ed singing in September and have learned new songs every few weeks. The students are so excited and ready to show the school and their families what they've been practicing and we would love others to join in with us" she said. To get everyone in on the fun, the choir is hosting a sing-in during their performance perfor-mance which will allow families fami-lies to sing several songs with the choir. Following the choir performance, per-formance, families will be invited in-vited outside to join in on the lighting of the school Christmas Christ-mas tree. PTA President Cyd -ney LeMone hopes the event will be a great way for Valley View families to add to their Christmas fun. "Valley View is 45 years old and this is the first time we will be lighting the school tree. To have our families there, watching our Choir perform and then participate in the lighting will be a really re-ally special night" Cyd said. Thanks to Timp Rental, and the help of Paul and Inger Phelon, the lights were strung on a 45 year old pine tree at the front entrance of the school last week. "I attended Valley View and now have three children that attend here, so I have many great memories of the school and know what a great place it is. When I heard they wanted to light the tree, I knew I could help out," Paul stated. Several local ' businesses busi-nesses donated strands of bulbs, making it possible for the lighting to come together. to-gether.
