Moab Miss Elected Homecoming Queen at CEU Festivities in Price College of Eastern Utah completed one of the finest homecomings in its history last week. Candidates for homecoming homecom-ing queen presented their talent to the CEU student body, faculty, and interested guests, Wednesday, Nov. 5. Thirteen lovely girls performed per-formed before a record audience. au-dience. Talent numbers included in-cluded traditional and modern mod-ern dances, vocal solos, dramatic dra-matic and humorous readings, read-ings, etc. Friday, Nc 7, the college featured a special variety show in the Geary Theatre. The homecoming program enveloped an array of creative crea-tive "skits and outstanding musical talent from the college col-lege and local high schools. In addition, two first place winners of the queen talent contest presented their numbers: num-bers: Miss Carolee Larsen of Huntington presented . a dramatic reading and Miss Sharon Long of Moab, daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Long, presented a ballet and ' jazz routine. One of the special attractions attrac-tions of the evening was the presence of TV celebrity, Dick Nourse of KSL radio and television. Mr. Nourse was master of ceremonies for the variety show. The award winning skit of the evening was the Latter-day Latter-day Saint Student Association Associa-tion presentation, "Happiness is Being Yourself." The grand finale of the evening ev-ening was the crowning of this year's homecoming queen. CEU homecoming queen of 1969 is Miss Sharon Long, of Moab. Fkst attendant atten-dant was Terri Neeley of Price, with second attendant, attend-ant, Carolee Larsen of Hunt-ingtoa Hunt-ingtoa i Miss Long graduated from Grand County High School in 1968. During her high school years she was a cheerleader, a member of the Vesuvius Girls Service Club, Ski Club, and Devilette Pep Club. She was also a member of the National Honor Society at her high school. She is presently pre-sently a sophomore at CELT majoring in physical education. educa-tion. She is a CEU Blue Deb, a cheerleader, and an assis- tant dorm resident at the new CEU dormitory. She is also the newly elected president pre-sident of the Womens Recreation Rec-reation Association. The College of Eastern Utah faculty float won the "most beautiful" float award. aw-ard. The float consisted of a ten foot rotating world circled cir-cled by a number of students stu-dents representing a number num-ber of different countries. Its theme was "Happiness is World Peace." The LDS Institute In-stitute of Religion float won the top honor of "best all around" float. The float was circular, patterned after a beautiful merry-go-round. It was pulled by a white horse mounted with Miss Connie Peterson, another candidate for homecoming queen. |
