Show Farm Production in Grand County Listed 1 he market value 01 all agricultural products sold by the 42 farms in Grand County in 1974 amounted to $983,000 according to a preliminary report of the 1974 Census of Agriculture released this week by the U.S. Department of Commerce's Bureau of the Census. The figures are for farms qualifying under the definition first used for the 1959 Census of Agriculture: Places of less than 10 acres were counted as farms if sales of agricultural products amounted to, or normally would amount to, at least $250. Places of 10 acres or more were counted as farms if sales of agricultural products for the year amounted to, or normally would amount to, at least $50. Figures for farms with sales of $2,500 or more are shown for 1974 and 1969. These farms accounted for SO.OOO of all agricultural products sold in 1974 and $516,000 in 1969. They numbered 28 in 1974 and 22 in 1969. Their average size decreased from 7,416 to 5,750 acred during the five years. The value per acre climbed $46 to $139, raising the average value per farm from $340,032 to $801,396. The market value of livestock live-stock and their products on these farms was $768,000 in 1974; poultry and their products, pro-ducts, $31,000; crop sales, including nursery products and hay, $169,000; and forest products, $2,000. |
