Show PoJce Investigated Five Accidents During the Veek Five automobile accidents were investigated by Moab City Police during the week. On April 30 at 2:30 p.m. 200 feet south of the intersection of U.S. 163 and Kane Creek Dr., William Floyd Pleasants was driving north in a 1974 International truck pulling a trailer. The driver of the truck in front of him hit the brakes to slow for a car making a left turn ahead. Pleasants had no time to stop and drove left of the center of the road. His truck hit broadside a 1971 Matador belonging to the U. S. Government and driven by Ernest Pete Beroni, who was turning left into Louie's Standard Station. The truck went over the curb just missing phone booths, fire hydrant and two more cars, coming to a stop 100 yards down Kane Creek Drive. The Matador was totaled, and there was about $200 damage to the International. Pleasants was cited for driving left of center, causing an accident. On May 1 at 6:20 p.m. in the Miller's Super Market parking lot a parked 1973 Ford belonging to Joe Chacon was hit by an unknown vehicle, sustaining about $150 damage. dam-age. This is still under investigation. At 6:25 p.m. May 2 at the intersection of North Main and 4th North Agapito Olivas, driving a 1973 Ford, was making a left turn onto 4th North. He failed to yield right of way and was hit by a 1966 ford driven by Deborah Be-hunin, Be-hunin, who was going south. There was about $300 damage to the Olivas vehicle and $700 damage to the Behunin vehicle. vehic-le. Olivas was cited for driving while intoxicated, and Behunin Behun-in was cited for expired registration. May 1 at 12:30 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Gift Shop Jewelers, Les Graves was backing a 1976 Ford and backed into another 1976 Ford belonging to June Methvin, doing about $150 damage to her vehicle. There was no citation as the accident was on private property. May 4 at 10:50 a.m. on South Main, Fred Stocks was driving a 1975 Ford pickup, making a left turn into Miller's Super Market parking lot. He failed to yield right of way and was hit by a 1967 Chevrolet driven by Richard Wayne Carrigan, doing about $500 damage to the Chevrolet and $200 damage to the pickup. Stocks was cited for failure to yield the right of way. |
