Show r . i f f 't; . - ' ' A I " - ' . i: . j A contemporary musical entitled "Celebrate Life" will be presented in the City Park on Friday, June 16 at 8:15 p.m., under the sponsorship of the Community Baptist Church, by the Oxford Tour Choir of the First United Methodist Church, Peoria, 111., and the public is cordially invited to attend. Choir to present concert at City Park this Friday ' A concert, featuring the Oxford Tour Choir of the First Methodist Church from Peoria, 111., will be held this Friday, June 16 in City Park at 8:15 p.m. The concert is sponsored by the Community Baptist church, Pastor E. M. Balla. The Oxford Tour Choir is making a seven state tour, singing at churches and retirement homes from June 11 to June 25. The group will also be participating in a work camp at the Navajo Methodist Mission School in Farmington, New Mexico. Mex-ico. The Oxford Choir has toured each summer since 1972 and features a forty-two voice choir, under un-der the direction of Mr. H. Harold Campbell, that has sung for Annual Conferences Confer-ences of the United Methodist Church in Central Cen-tral Illinois, and the Oklahoma Missionary Annual An-nual Conference, as well as, in churches and retirement homes in southeastern, southwestern, southwest-ern, and the Central United States. Each summer sum-mer the choir has spent time visiting with persons, individually, following their concerts and has participated in work camps to repair individual homes in Appalachia, as well as build fellowship halls, and other projects in Oklahoma. The Oxford Choir prepares pre-pares all year long for the tour and leads its own congregation in worship each week. The youth have earned money to support the tour through work and service projects during the 1977-78 school year. Peoria First United Methodist Church is a church of 3,700 members in Peoria, central Illinois. The Choir is featuring the contemporary musical "Celebrate Life," written by Buryl Red. "Celebrate Life!" tells the story of Jesus in simple, dramatic terms. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John share their faith and some of their experiences. The tone is warm, intimate, and worshipful. |
