Show Money Down the Drain "Two... news stories demonstrate that Uncle Sam is still Uncle Sap. i an over-grown mush -headed clown when it comes to international ' relations," writes Mr. A.M. Tewksbury in the I Oregon Voter Digest. He ' continues, "The first story was dated Nov. 19 and reported that despite our very cool relations with India, we gave her $108 million worth of food in 1972. The second story was dated .Nov. 25 and said that India had refused permission for the U.S. Military Airlift Commandos Com-mandos round the world shuttle to continue using us-ing Indian air space. The Airlift has beenus- ing Indian air space for 23 years. The airlift hauls military and other governmental personnel around the world. India's In-dia's decision will seriously ser-iously disrupt the shuttle shut-tle service. Now our diplomats will have to figure out what to do. Their usual solution is to triple or quadruple American aid. So no doubt we'll eventually learn that 1973 food gifts to India are S30IJ million instead of the piddling S 1 08 million for 1972. We keep hearing about the taxpayer's revolt. re-volt. We wonder when they'll revolt against these endless giveaways to h o s t i I e countries. There are plenty of friendly countries which can use our aid." |
