Show INDIAN population OF UTAH INCREASES population of indians in the last decade increased in utah from 2711 to 2889 or at the rate of per cent it Is shown in census statistics received by dr T B beatly state commissioner of vital statistics while the rate of increase has not been large it Is at any rate a more satisfactory showing than the decrease from or at the rate of per cent during the decade from 1910 to 1920 san juan with a 1930 indian population of 1320 resumes the leading place in numbers of indians within its borders a place which 1 had lost to uintah in 1920 the 1920 indian population of san juan was and that of uintah was 1131 some of the indians appear to have moved in the decade from uintah to duchesne county which reported only 70 indians in 1929 and m 1930 it may be that the tact that the 1920 census was as of january 1 and that of 1930 as of april 15 may have recorded some seasonal changes in the habitat of the indians |
