Show MANY FOREST FIKES REPORTED BURNING IN DISTRICT the dry pork mountain fire on the ashley forest is considered to be under control although up to yesterday about men were employed on it the area exceeds 1000 acres it Is reported to have burned in an area classified as protection forest the wyoming forest has recently dealt with seven class C fires the pearson creek fire covering 1000 acres and six other class C fires ranging from 40 to acres are reported controlled and well on the way to being out the pine bar fire on the buth fork of snake river on the wyoming side Is acres in size but Is giving some trouble yet mr woods of the regional office and forest supervisor favre are on this fire and it Is hoped that it will be well under control very soon approximately 90 tire fighters are employed on the wyoming fires at this time the gravel creek tire on the teton Is reported today under control however it has developed one spot fire which Is still giving some trouble sixty fire fighters 35 horses and 2 trucks have been employed against this fire the supervisor reports this to be the worst fire condition ever experienced this gravel creek tire Is of several hundred acres size and Is located immediately above the juncture of gravel creek with pacific creek the supervisor states that no additional fire overhead or fire equipment Is needed reports today state that weber has two class C tires practically out the payette has one small fire burning but it probably will te extinguished soon no tires on the idaho and none on the balse conditions in that section are becoming somewhat critical because of the high temperatures low humidity and frequent winds A telephone message at 4 00 p m today from supervisor brenston of cache forest stated that the fire on pearl creek at the north end of the forest made a run this afternoon extending the tire to an estimated acres in size additional men are beng placed tonight but the supervisor eels that with the good men he al eady has on the job he will need no fire overhead this tire is in balsam and lodgepole pine stands A report this afternoon from mackay indicates no fires on the eahl and none on the salmon the trail creek tire on the challas Is reported to be about 1000 acres and las 50 men on it they report this ire quiet today but not entirely con a no additional help Is re at this time A number of experienced men on the non tire forests have been notified to be ready in case of call for tire assignment on any of the northern forests the weather practically over the whole region Is reported to be exceedingly dry |
