Show STOCKMEN ACT ON A meeting of the desert livestock was held in moab saturday tor the purpose of taking action on matters relative to livestock range in the book mountain district the meeting had been called to discuss the action of the general land office in denying applications for enlarged homesteads several resolutions were passed protesting the action of the land office A discussion of the state school land situation was had and the state land board was requested to grant school land leases for longer terms than have heretofore been allowed the land board was urged to properly classify its lands so that an equitable rental fee could be arrived at the association asked that a maximum rate of 10 cents an acre on desert land and 20 cents an acre on mountain land be established on sunday members of the association together with a crowd of local and salt lake people went on a boat trip down the colorado river going as far as cane springs wash the party numbered about 30 among the book mountain stockmen stoc kmen who were in moab for the meeting were clai de N taylor tom larsen L H larsen dick tomlinson wallace cunningham A J turner carl osborn and frank shafer aalboe company cf provo are commencing construction operations on two bridges south of moab for which they were recently given a contract by the state road commission the bridges will span pack creek three miles south of moab and cane springs wash 17 miles south both will be steel and concrete structures |
