Eight others were saved. i The dead were Joseph Curry, IS; Wallace, 12, and Ralph White-house, White-house, 8, brothers, and Charles Kendall, 8. An ebbing tide and an off-shore wind caught 11 youngsters unawares un-awares at their game and carried car-ried the,m far out into the harbor. One or two of them Jumped and reached shore. Police rescued others, but the Whltehouse boys and Kendall could not be found, although officers grappled for hours for their bodies. Curry lost his life In another part of the harbor, when he went to warn his brothers and their friends that the Ice was unsafe. His body was found. |
