Show Six Motorists Admit Speeding Charges; Three Receive Reductions in Sentences Judge Reva Beck Boeone Tuesday Tues-day fined six- speeders in police court as the offenders pleaded guilty to the charges. Three of those fined received $15 suspension of the usual 625 fine, or five days of the optional eight-day eight-day jail sentence. They were: Harold Buckley of 9070 South 1000 East street, who admitted speeding 40 miles per hour September Sep-tember 30 from about Seventeenth South street to s bout, 2300 South on Main street; Albert Salerno, 23, of Ogden, who admitted traveling 40 miles per hour on Thirteenth East street from Flftrl South street to Seventh South street on September Sep-tember 27; Robert Davies, 23, of 749 South Main street, who admitted admit-ted speeding 40 miles per hour September 30 on Beck street. W. B. Outcalt, 73. of Murray, was fined 125, with the alternative jail sentence of eight days when he admitted speeding'45 miles per boor on State street from Thirteenth Thir-teenth South street to Williams avenue September 28. Two motorists Involved in a collision col-lision Sunday afternoon at Eighth West street and Fifth North street were both charged with speeding 35 miles per hour at the time of the mishap. The motorists, Irving W. Abbott, 28, of Mldvale, and Noall F. Hydo, 23, of Kaysvllle, both pleaded guilty to the charges and both received the same sen- tence 25 fine, with the optional jail sentence of eight days. No one was Injured in the accident that led to the arrest of the pair. George Bennett, 21. arrested after he allegedly obtained 20 tickets tick-ets to the oratorio "Elijah" under false pretenses, Tuesday pleaded guilty to charges of vagrancy and was sentenced to serve a term of 13 days In city jail. 10 of which were suspended. Louis H. Smith, 22. Tueaday was sentenced to serve a term of six months in the city jail after he pleaded guilty to charges at petty larceny. Smith was arrested by Detectives Detec-tives Jack E. Blazzard and J. Ross Hunsaker after he allegedly stole a watch and clothing from the room of George W. Hilton of 1408 Perry avenue September IX ' Tipsy Drivers Receive Sentences SOUTH SALT LAKE Two admitted ad-mitted drunken drivers Tuesday had been sentenced to pay 1100 each or serve a total of 80 days in jail. Harmon was arrested by John Vlsser and Lee Browning, state highway patrolmen. Trial lor Glen F. Player, 696 Wandamera avenue. Salt Lake City, was set for Sp.ro. Thursday. He denied drunken driving following follow-ing his arrest in the 200 block on East 2700 South street by David L. Price, South Salt Lake town marshal. Player was released on 6300 bond. Eugene Hallen, 561 East 2700 South street, admitted speeding 55 miles per hour in a 40-mile sons and paid a $7 fine. Keith McCleary, 231 West 4500 South street, and Eugene Jones, 507 Denver Den-ver street. Salt Lake City, each paid a 63 speeding fine. |
