Show VET VANGUARD INVADES PRICE Special to The Telegram PRICE, Aug. 4 The vanguard of American Legion delegates began arriving her Wednesday as the city completed final arrangements for a celebration planned In connection with the legion convention Thursday, Thurs-day, Friday and Saturday. During the next three days Carbon Car-bon county will belong to the former "doughboys, gobs and lesMiernecks." Mayor J. Bracken Lee of Price and Mayor George Spratling of Helper said each visitor will be recognised as possessor of keys to the county's two largest communities. On arriving in Price, the visitors will plungs into a western atmosphere atmo-sphere created by this community's observance of westsrn homecoming week. With most of Price's residents, resi-dents, men, women and children, wearing cowboy apparel, the city has taken on the appearance of a booming western town of pioneer days. Scheduled Set The festive spirit engendered by the opening of homecoming week Monday wilt reach its height on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the days of the convention, and on Sunday, Sun-day, when the final performance of a three-day rodeo sponsored by Price post will be presented. On the eve of the convention Val H. Cowles. commander of Price post, announced the receipt of a measage of greeting from National Commander Com-mander Harry W. Colmery of Tope To-pe ka, Kan., who reminded members of the Utah department that the American Legion program is primarily pri-marily ons of Americanism. Greetings were also received from Mrs. Oscar Hahn, national president of the auxiliary, who praised the Utah department on its accomplishments accomplish-ments of the pass year. Considerable Interest Is centered on the races for state commander and national committeeman. Three Mentioned Ora Bundy of Ogden, J. J. Edwards Ed-wards of Logan and Clyde B. Stratford Strat-ford of Brigham City are being mentioned for commander. Norman L. Sims of Salt Lake City. George S. Baliff of Provo and Ferd Erickson of Monroe are reportedly seeking the national post. Registration of delegates and alternates al-ternates opened at noon Wedneadsy at the Savoy hotel, convention head-quarters. head-quarters.
