Show New Deal 'Communism' Scored As G. 0. P. Outlines Program NEW YORK, Aug. 4 (UP) The national affairs committee of the national Republican committee was on record today with a statement state-ment of principles for guidance of the party, including condemnation of what it called the "doctrines of Karl Marx and of Moscow now being encouraged in this country by the new deal." a resolution, emoracing a program pro-gram for the party and practices which It disapproves, waa adopted by the committee last night . "For the first time in our history,' his-tory,' the statement aaid, "we have witnessed attempts against the con- stitution, against our form of government gov-ernment and against the very integrity in-tegrity of the nation, each led by the president of the United States. "We have aeen class-consciousness created and aroused; capital and labor, which ahould be cooperative (and largely have been) openly arrayed ar-rayed as antagonists, until, in some of our greatest atatee virtual civil war arose and the resulting unrest pervades the whole country. We are aeeing the doctrines of Karl Marx and of the aecond and third international put into effect by those from the president down, whose acta belie their words." The resolution set forth aa a program pro-gram the following: "We believe that unless the new deal reckless experimentation and waywardness la stopped, our form of government cannot continue. Our party principles are never hidden. We believe in the support of the constitution and of the aupreme court; a balanced budget; sound currency cur-rency based on gold; national economy; econ-omy; enlightened, constructive, far-seeing far-seeing programs (sound, workable, carefully tested) for agricultural, industrial and aoclal progress; definite def-inite protection of the rights of labor and equal protection to those who provide opportunity for work; a protective tariff; opposition to class distinctions; the protection of minorities; the preservation of the rights of the states; encouragement to individual initiative and the minimum min-imum of government in business." |
