Show IIjiD 0? iiliZISI IS'; : .y.- 'DECIDEDLY .STR0NG5H only delays matters at the Columbus, but also causes the shut-down of the machines at the South Columbus and the Alta-Qulncy, where development work of the utmost Importance is delayed. de-layed. This is especially true of the AJta-Quincy. The delay at the Columbus Colum-bus is not so much regretted, as work of the utmost importance In putting the mine in shape to feed, the mill will not be delayed. ; - The Columbus has been most fortunate fortu-nate that the plant has been delayed by no more serious accident than the trouble with the compressor. BICH STREAK HOLDS IH SCOTTISH CHIEF. SHSBMSSaMBi Will Groeabeck, who has Just returned re-turned from the Scottish Chief of Thayne's canyon, is most enthusiastic over the showing at that property. He states that the rich streak which was discovered on the 250-foot level of the property is not only holding out wejh but it is even getting bigger as It is worked upon. The management has decided to run a drift to out the streak on the 600-foot level, but the drift has not as yet proceeded pro-ceeded far enough to encounter the ore body. A That it will prove that the rich streak of chloride of silver goes down to at least the depth of 500 feet Is not doubted by any of the mining men who have visited the property. In the meantime a nice amount of silver-lead ore is being extracted and it is very probable that another shipment will be made shortly if the weather will permit. The mine Is without doubt looking better than It has at any time since work was started upon it and the management is confident of making a bonanza of the property. Manager Will "Lawrence has been delayed de-layed in his proposed trip to the mine, but expects to be able to get to the property within the next few days. TO SEE WASATCH KING. The management of the Wasatch King, of Beaver county has received information infor-mation that a number of the ' heavy Eastern stockholders will arrive in this city during the next week and will immediately im-mediately leave for the property with the Intention of making a thorough examination ex-amination of the mine. If the new strikes prove to be as valuable as has been reported, it is their Intention to greatly increase their holdings. The management is able to put a nice shipment of ore on the market, but Is looking for favorable terms with the railroads and smelters before it does anything in the marketing line. fhe week opened on a market which is much more satisfactory than has been shown for some days. While the market mar-ket made no sensational advances;' prices showed an Increase and the trend of the market was decidedly stronger than it was last week. The amount of business done was not alarmingly large but the market was strong and the buying buy-ing orders were much in evidence. The controversy In May Day has at least promoted an activity In that stock - although there seems to be a tendency among the outsiders to look upon the recent drop in values with suspicion and to get rid of the holdings. However, In spite of this the stock advanced sharply, opening at 284 and moving to 24 .with a good demand. The stock . closed with 24 bid and 24tf asked. New Tork was rather more active ac-tive than usual but the price was not as strong as was expected. However, it advanced from 20 to 21 and closed steady at the higher price. ,Star Consolidated showed an advance, moving to 15, although the demand was easily filled and the stock was freely offered, at that price at the close. Daly seems to have slumped from the lack of confirmation of the news of a new. strike and was to be had at 22.40 with less offered at the close. Butler-Liberal was stronger than usual, advancing to 12, although there were few buyers at that price. . Grand Central was a trifle stronger, although the demand was easily satis-fled satis-fled at 23.46. Uncle Sam was obtained at the ridlc-ulously ridlc-ulously low price of 23, but little stock came out and the demand greatly exceeded ex-ceeded the supply. The closing quotations follow - Bid. Manager Lochwltz of the Sunshine of Park valley has returned . to this city after seeing to the closing up of that property for the winter. He is most enthusiastic en-thusiastic over the showing which has been made In the mine during the last year and is confident that it will be one of the most consistent and satisfactory of the producers of the State when properly prop-erly equipped. The directors have not been able to decide whether to equip the property with a mill in the spring or to install a compressor and power drills and make a more thorough development of the property, but Mr. Lochwltz is confident that the ore is there and only needs development de-velopment work, to establish it MAMMOTH LOOKS BETTER. Manager Mclntyre, who has just returned re-turned from a visit to the Mammoth of Tin tic, states that the mine is if anything any-thing looking better than it has for months. , The drift on the 2100-foot level has not yet reached the ore in place, but the drift is now in a fixed formation, forma-tion, carrying bunches of high-grade ore and streaks of manganese, which conditions con-ditions have always indicated the neighborhood of ore bodies in the Mammoth. Mam-moth. He states that the rich silver chute which was encountered op the 1700-foot level is still being followed and the product is so rich as to require sacking. THIS MORNING'S SALES. PEELING JUBILANT OVEB ALTA-QTJINCT. Alex Colbath, superintendent of th j Alta-Qulncy, is down from that camp for a few days visit with his family, while the power drills are closed down on account of the accident to the compressor com-pressor in th Columbus Consolidated, from which the Alta-Qulncy deprives power. While he could not be Induced to say anything definite concerning the conditions condi-tions at the property of which he is in charge, Mr. Colbath let it be understood under-stood that there is a most encouraging amount of ore in sight with every day's development adding to the riches ' of the company. He reports Alta - as most active and states that that camp will surprise the natives in more than one property before spring. WORD FBOK SHEBA. The latest advices from Superintend-entFloeter Superintend-entFloeter of the Sheba company announce an-nounce that that gentleman since he has taken over the charge, of the property prop-erty has made the connections necessary between the old workings and the drain tunnel. While it was too soon to announce an-nounce the formations found at the point of Intersection of the two openings. open-ings. Judge Bartch, one of the directors of the company. Is now at the property and Is expected home within the next few days. Superintendent Floeter's letter announce that the Judge will bring the latest information. . COLTJMBTJS COMTEESSOR DELAYS MTU, "WORK. Recent arrivals from Alta announce that the Columbus Consolidated has . suffered the usual tribulations of a new plant and that the mill is at present closed down. The cause of the shut-down has been assigned to the failure of the compressor. com-pressor. The compresser is required to pump water to the mill from the mine and. not only are all th machines in the mines Silent, but the mill cannot be worked without water. " It is announced that the repairing of the compressor Is proceeding as rapidly as possible, but from all accounts it will be some, days before the mill will be In running order again. This is regretted, re-gretted, as the management has recently recent-ly put on two shift, in the mill and every effort was being made to secure a banner output for the month. , The shut-down of the compressor not |
