Show VICTIM OF NEGRO IS IN DYING CONDITION Special Officer Grogan at Boise Not Likely to Survive His Injuries. BOISE. Ida., May 27.-John N. Grogan. the Nam pa special officer, who was shot in the shoulder by James T. Quarles, colored, col-ored, of Boise, last Sunday afternoon during dur-ing a squabble which followed the ball-game ball-game in that city, is sinking rapidly and may not live another day. Mrs. Grogan came over from Nampa last evening at the suggestion of physicians, who advised her that her husband could not recover. The bullet struck Grogan In the right shoulder and was deflected downward through the top Of the right lung. The lung is badly congested and nothing can be done to relieve the suffering. The bullet bul-let la supposed to be lodged somewhere in the back. No efforts have been made to probe for it, as the patient's condition will not permit. His dying statement has been taken. Quarles. who did the shooting, and Henry Hen-ry Williams, who is accused of having struck the officer over the head with a cane during the scrimmage, were removed from the Ada county Jail yesterday and taken to the Canyon county Jail at Caldwell by Sheriff Watkins of Canyon county and Sheriff Agnew, They will be held at Caldwell until the date for their preliminary examination is set. |
