Show DEPRESSION . CONTINUES Heavy Offerings Send the Prices of .Principal Issues Is-sues Down. NEW YORK. June 5. Opening dealings in 'stocks showed no relief from yesterday's yester-day's depression and there were heavy offerings of some of the principal Issues. A thousand shares of Pennsylvania followed fol-lowed by a 3000-ehare block carried It down and there were sales successively of 3000, 2000 and 1000-share blocks of Union Pacific, which depressed It . Amalgamated Amalga-mated Copper fell nearly a point and there were fractional declines In United States Steel stocks, Missouri Pacific, Baltimore A Ohio and American Smelting. Some sell-log sell-log orders for miner stocks were worked off at substantial declines during the early downward rush, but their depression did not extend to the active leaders, which met immediate support. Rallies were sharp and were led by Pennsylvania and Amalgamated Copper which, sold a point above their lowest prices. A deluge of selling orders met the recovery re-covery above 52 in Amalgamated Cop"er and it plunged downward to 61. Sugar also fell to 117 ex. dlv. and the railroad 'stocks came back, but not quite to the opening low points. At 11 o'clock Amalgamated was ruling above yesterday's closing level again. The general list was feverish and Irregular. United States Express declined de-clined 4. Linseed Oil 7 and Northwestern 24. Minneapolis. St. Paul A Sault Ste. Marie preferred advanced 2. There was evidence of support in some of the standard storks and Pennsylvania. St. Paul. Southern Pacific. Atchison and Amalgamated got a fraction over last nl?ht. New weak points developed and kept sentiment disturbed. Atchison was forced down There was a decline of 44 In St. Louts-Southwestern preferred. 24 In Evansvllle and Terre Haute. Twin City Rapid Transit and Michigan Central and 6 in Wells-Fargo. Prices generally reacted in sympathy. Bonds were easy at noon. ' Numerous selling orders appeared simultaneously simul-taneously in various active stocks, and they fell below the morning prices. Severe declines were made by some high-priced inactive stocks, which contributed to the market's depression. Lackawanna lost 5. St. Louis Southwestern 44, Adams Express Ex-press 4. North American 2, Texas Pacific 2 and Canadian Pacific 2. Buying orders came In at the low level, and the market hardened, but became very dull on the recovery. Amalgamated rose to 62. and the railroad stocks rallied a good fraction. The heaviest selling movement of the day broke out after 1 o'clock. The movement move-ment had Its Inception in Atchison and Union Pacific, thousands of shares of these stocks being thrown over at rapidly declining prices. Atchison tumbled to 6S. a loss of 2. and Union Pacific sold at 79. or 1 under yesterday's close. Other standard stocks broke to the lowest of the dav, and In some cases well below last Monday's low record level. Sales were made of many less Important properties at figures from 2 to 4 points below previous pre-vious prices. Hocking Valley declined . Amalgamated Copper was taken In large amounts after It got down around 614 snd then made a quick rally to 52. which helped the general market to recover a fraction before 2 o'clock. Enormous liquidation and marked feverishness characterized trading on the Boston stock exchange this morning. The market opened lower, rallied, ral-lied, but was carried down again on a flood of selling orders in the copper shares. Amalgamated, which easily commanded the bulk of attention here, opened at 51' and on the second sale touched 51 V4- Supporting Sup-porting orders lifted it as high at 62. but constant fluctuations within 3 points followed. fol-lowed.
