Show THE IRRIGATION CONGRESS. The Fourteenth National Irrigation Congress will meet at Boise City, Idaho, on the 3rd of September, and will continue five days. ' This will be a very important meeting and our v sister city of the Gem State is making great preparations prepara-tions to have the congress a very great success, and " to entertain delegates as they have never been entertained en-tertained before. ' .7 : It ought to be a most interesting meeting. There will be present leading irrigation experts, practical farmers and horticultural representatives from State agricultural -institutions, State Engineers, noted foresters, railroad managers and business men, State and National officials and the press gang. . Idaho, a few years hence, is going to be one of the very great agricultural States of the Union, for it has.the land and has the water, and together with tiiese two essentials it has a magnificent climate, a climate in which all the products of the temperate . zone flourish, wonderfuly and some of them take on almost the luxuriance of tropical products. Hence everything that pertains to the cultivation of the soil is of great interest to that State. The people present at the comgressr will include a very large percentage per-centage of most distinguished men. ; . . The exercises will be held in the Boise theater, E most commodious and comfortable and beautiful i structure. . " ' . Boise City itself has been reclaimed from the ! desert, and nowhere else is the effect oi intelligent . . irrigation, on a fine soil and under fervid sunlight, in : better evidence than at Boise City and it3 surround-jings; surround-jings; indeed, the congress will take on not only ; the thoughtful discussion of every feaare of irrica-tion, irrica-tion, but it will be practically in', the nature of a . great exposition, showing what ha been produced . since the first congress met, in the way of reclaiin- ing the "desert and making in the midst of what was '& desert a great area of delightful homes. ' We hope that every delegate appointed from ; Utah will feel it a sense of duty to attend, for Utah and Idaho are inseparably linked together in every interest, social and t industrial. |
