Show Ileniarkablc Fast Typewriting. English newssaieni have given considerable "pace of late to tbe feat of a parliamentary shorthand reporter re-porter who transcribed 6500 words in two hours and three minutes. In a conversation with .Mr. J. E. Mun-son, Mun-son, well known as tbe inventor ot Munson's system of phono-grai'li phono-grai'li y, and one of the oldest law reporters in the country, he made some interesting statements about rapid writing. "The fact is," he said, "we hate in this city one or two typewriters who write from dictation at a speed of forty folios or 109 words an hour, and any number who can write rrom thirty to thlrty-frlx Alios in that time. Twenty-rourfolios is only the average time of a good typo-wnter. I understand that there Is a difference differ-ence in writing from dictation and transcribing one's notes, but I do not regard the featjipoken of as anything any-thing but fairly good work. |
