Show DOING i i SCHOOL WORK It was indeed unfortunate for the high school that the prevailing epidemic opt epi demic necessitated the closing of or the i schools We Ve were getting a splendid start In all the work and the attitude of the students was the best hence our keen regrets because of this enforced enforced en en- n- n forced vacation But Dut we have tried not to sit passively down and bemoan our fate but Instead have introduced home study a system of supervised which It is s believed will greatly make up the loss 1059 of ot regular school work It should be distinctly understood that school in its us usual al form torm has not been resumed However in nearly all subjects the tho work is proceeding under this new system Briefly the plan is as follows typewritten outlines outlines OUtlines out OUt- lines and instructions for tor study are prepared in each subject and a copy given to each student to take home Each of these ou outlines tUnes covers one I weeks week's w work rk All studying is Gone done at home homo but about two or three times per week each student will come to the high school building at a specified fied fled time to consult privately each of his teachers teachers During this consultation consultation consultation consul consul- tation any questions the student ma may wish to ask are presented and the problem made clear by the instructor Also assignments made in the work are checked off after the student has I satisfactorily reported This work isa Is Isa Isa a required part of ot the years year's study a and nd before any student will mill be given credit for a course he must have completed this part of it It However students will be permitted to work off these assignments later if he Is not in a position to do them at present I Students are urged to make use of j I this vacation to do as much of the years year's work as possible I With the regulations that are being I enforced there Is no danger of the I influenza being scattered In the least Gauze masks are worn by students and teachers at all times while in the building Only one student is interviewed Inter inter- Interviewed viewed at a time In any room by a aI I teacher and mingling of ot students to toI together together to- to I gether is absolutely forbidden as a n matter of fact the schedule of or students students' students students' stu stu- 1 dents' dents visits to the school Is so arranged arranged arranged ar ar- I ranged that there are only about a aI I half dozen hero here at one time Much of the interviewing is done out In the open air Each student is at the building only about bout a half halt hour at leach each visit With the proper attitude of pupils and the hearty Ia a a. great groat t oal wn b boi i i onn n i after regular school reconvenes It will be found that not so much will wIlt really have been lost by this unfortunate unfortunate closing of the schools |
