Show FORMER RESIDENT DIES IN SALT LAKE CITY Mrs. Zina Ellen McKinney Hog-an, Hog-an, 88, former resident of Springville, Spring-ville, died at her home in Salt Lake City Tuesday after a brief illness of causes incident to age. She was born in Chambersburg, Ind., June 13, 1858, a daughter of Thompson and Mary Jane Hobson McKinney. A convert to the L.D.S. church, she was baptized in October, Octo-ber, 1883, and on Dec. 29 of that same year came to Utah with a train of immigrants of early-day converts to the Church. She was married to Eric Hogan in the Logan temple in November, 1884 and later moved to Millard county with her husband where she experienced all the hardships of frontier pioneer life. Later, she made her home in Springville, and moved to Salt Lake City in 1917. Following the death of her husband hus-band in 1910, she entered the nursing profession which she followed fol-lowed for about twenty years. In this capacity she endeared herself to all with whom she came in contact. con-tact. She was affectionately known as "Mother Hogan" by a wide circle of close friends. She was a devoted and active member of the Church, having served as a Relief Society president presi-dent for several years and also a teacher in the Primary Association. Associa-tion. For the past fifteen years she had been an ardent genealogical genealo-gical and temple worker. Surviving her are five sons and daughters, Arthur M. Hogan, Tooele; Patriarch Clarence G. Hogan Ho-gan of Eureka; Lawrence M. Hogan Ho-gan and Mrs. Elsie H. Van Noy of Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Mary H. Weight of Springville; twenty-eight twenty-eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted Friday. Jan. 25, at 12:00 noon in the 21st ward chapel, 2nd Ave., and K St., Salt Lake City with Bishop Harvey of the 14th ward officiating. Friends may call at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elsie H. Van Noy, 765 Third Ave., from 5:00 p. m., until 9:00, Thursday Thurs-day evening and from 10:00 a. m. to 11:30 Friday. |
