Show Ladies Literary ; 0 By Mrs. Minnie F. Groesbeck , o , For the purpose of sociability and intellectual development, the Ladies Literary club was organized organ-ized informally September 27, 1928, at the home of Mrs. Clara Sumsion. Mrs. Clara Sumsion was the first president, Mrs. Bess Mendenhall, Men-denhall, vice-president, and Mrs. Elfie Crandall, secretary and treasurer. The following were charter members: Mrs. Clara Sumsion, Sum-sion, Mrs. Golda Crandall, Mrs. Catherine Salisbury, Mrs. Bess Mendenhall, Mrs. Minnie Groesbeck, Groes-beck, Mrs. Emma Jacobsen. Mrs. Manilla Brown, Mrs. Rhea Straw, Mrs. Margaret Grooms, Mrs. Julia Sumsion, Mrs. Elfie Crandall, Mrs. ' Elizabeth Salisbury, Mrs. Jessie Dalton, and Mrs. Alta Faux. The club has studied literary projects, and for the past two years modern contemporary novels, no-vels, dramas, and biographies have been reviewed by members. The membership has now-grown now-grown to twenty. The club voted to become affiliated with the Federated Clubs of Utah and they have added to their objectives to encourage and support activities for the benefit of the community. The present officers of the club are: President, Mrs. Lela Packard; Pack-ard; vice-president, Mrs. Jessie Dalton; secretary-treasurer, Bir-della Bir-della Bjarnson; program chairman, chair-man, Mrs. Blanche Beal. |
