Show Meade Weight and Mildred Cartwright Married at Lovely Home Wedding p. W. X. O. CLUB MEMBERS EXTERTAIXED THURSDAY Members of the W. N. O. club were delightfully entertained last Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Birdie Strong. The evening was spent playing play-ing Scotch bridge, ' with Mary Averett winning the high score prize and Theda Child the consolation. con-solation. Later in the evening household gifts were exchanged and luncheon lunch-eon was served to the following: Noma Thorpe, Mary Averett, Virginia Vir-ginia Peterson, Theda Child, Winnie Win-nie Mower, Glen Nita Ollerton, Oris Child, Emma Jex, Helen Adams, Maurine Mortensen, Leona Wilson, Alta Ollerton, and the hostess. Miss Virginia Hall was a special guest. j Of interest to his many friends is the marriage of Meade Weight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Weight of this city, to Miss Mildred Cart-wright, Cart-wright, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Cartwright of Ely, Nev. The couple were united in marriage mar-riage Saturday, March 1, at 6 o'clock, at the home of tire bride's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Handley in Springville, with President J. Emmett Bird performing per-forming the ceremony in the presence pres-ence of the immediate families. Mr. and Mrs. Weight entertained entertain-ed at a wedding dinner for the young couple Sunday at their home. The long dining table was decorated with sweet peas and centered with a large beautifully decorated wedding cake. Guests included the bride and BRIDE-TO-BE FETED AT PARTY TUESDAY Miss Elsie Sumsion, who is to be married next week, was guest of honor at a party held at the home of her grandmother, Mrs. Lydia Sumsion, Tuesday night. The .evening's entertainment included in-cluded musical selections on the steel guitar by Mrs. Donetta An-thon; An-thon; a reading, Lois Hansen; and a review of the book "Spring Came On Forever," " by . Bess Streeter Aldrich, given by Mrs. Mae Huntington. Approximately fifty guests from Provo, Payson, and Springville were served a delicious plate luncheon in conclusion. The entertaining rooms were decorated with pink and white carnations. Many beautiful gifts were presented pre-sented to the bride-to-be during the evening. MRS. HAXCOCK FETED OX HER BIRTHDAY A group of friends delightfully delightful-ly surprised Mrs. Velt Hancock on her birthday Monday night. Those attending presented Mrs. Hancock with a beautiful cameo brooch. The evening was spent playing games, after which a delicious luncheon was served from a long table centered with a beautiful pink and white birthday cake. VERSATILITY CLUB HAS ST. PATRICK'S PARTY Versatility club members spent a delightful evening Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Harriet Burt. A well-arranged luncheon was served early in the evening according ac-cording to an attractive color scheme suggestive of St. Patrick's Pat-rick's day. Progressive Bingo was played, with prizes for the game going to Mrs. Helen Rowland and Mrs. Venita Harmer, a guest. Others present were Mrs. May Miller, Mrs. Evelyn Bird, Mrs. Eloise Bird, Mrs. Eulalia Livingston, Living-ston, Mrs. Geraldine Atkinson, Mrs. Elzina Laney, Mrs. Marva Taylor, Mrs. Harriet Strong, and Mrs. Minnie Walton of Provo. JOYALTY CLUB EXTERTAIXED Mrs. Merle Packard was hostess to members of the Jovalty club Friday at her honve. Luncheon was served early from small tables according to a patriotic patrio-tic theme, after which bridge was played with the high score prize going to Ann Stewart, second prize to Lucille Packard, and the guest prize to Ida Silberman. Members present were Mrs. Margaret Sumsion, Mrs. Mabel Simkins Mrs. Clara Childs, Mrs. Lucille "Packard, Mrs. Ann Stewart, Stew-art, Mrs. Mary Bird, Mrs. Carrie Jolley, and special guests were Helen Anderson, Ethel Robinson of Murray, Beth Johnson of Spanish Span-ish Fork, and Ida Silberman. SECOXD WARD HAS FIRESIDE CHAT Miss Merle Fletcher was hostess to Second ward M Men and Gleaners Glean-ers Sunday evening after sacrament sacra-ment meeting at the regular monthly fireside chat, with Gleaner Glean-er President Francis Tuttle in charge. Hilton A. Robertson, former president of the Japanese mission, entertained by telling many interesting inter-esting incidents concerning his mission. Community singing was also enjoyed by the group. Max Sim-kins Sim-kins offered the benediction. Refreshments were served in conclusion by the hostess and her assistants, Fern Simkins, Floyd Stewart, and Bob Burt. SOCLAL TWELVE CLUB MEMBERS EXTERTAIXED Members' of the Social Twelve club were delightfully entertained Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Floss Phillips. At 8 o'clock a delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served at small tables, after which progressive contract bridge was played. High score prize was won by Mrs. Esther Johnson and the consolation went to Mrs. Thelma Clark. In attendance were eleven club members and Mrs. Rea Straw was a special guest. LADIES LITERARY CLUB EXTERTAIXS PARTNERS Members of the Ladies Literary Liter-ary club and their partners were entertained Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Clyde, with the party especially honoring Mr. and Mrs. J. Y. Bearnson and Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Groesbeck, who will leave soon with the national guard, for California. Cali-fornia. A delicious dinner was served early in the evening from tables decorated with cut flowers of red, white, and blue, after which progressive pro-gressive games, were played. Prizes during the evening were awarded award-ed to E. S. Groesbeck, J. Y. Bearnson, Bearn-son, Mrs. Berton Groesbeck, and Mrs. Oliver Dalton. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. G. FIRESIDE CHAT TO BE SUXDAY IX FIRST WARD M Men and Gleaners of the First ward will hold their regular monthly fireside chat Sunday night in the First ward Relief society room after Sacrament meeting. Dee Sanford will speak and show souvenirs that he brought back from his mission in Tahiti. PARAXADA CLUB TO MEET MONDAY XIGHT Paranada club members will be entertained Monday night at the Valley Tavern, with Mrs. Tess Hatfield acting as hostess. A musical program is planned for the evening, and all members are invited to be present. FIRST WARD M MEN HAVE CHICKEN DINNER Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Bird entertained en-tertained members of the First ward M Men basketball team at dinner Tuesday night at their home. LADIES EXTERTAIXED AT OLD-FASHIOXED RAG BEE A group of ladies were entertained enter-tained at an old-fashioned rag bee held Thursday at the home of Mrs. E. O. Hall. The ladies sewed rags and enjoyed en-joyed social conversation, with the prize for sewing the most rags going to Mrs. Fred Averett. Participating in the novel party were Mrs. Merlyn Prothero, Mrs. Beth Barney, Mrs. Gertie Clements, Clem-ents, Mrs Helen Rowland, Mrs. Norma Childs, Mrs. Fay Haymond, Mrs. Mabel Simkins, Mrs. Reed Averett, Mrs. Fred Averett, Mrs. Ruel Averett, and Mrs. Farn Averett. HIGH SCHOOL FACULTY WIVES ENTERTAINED High Ichool faculty wives were entertained Thursday at the home of Mrs. J. F. Wingate, with Mrs. Glen Turner acting as assisting hostess. Mrs. D. B.
