Show Road Commission Issues Appeal For Safe Driving W. D. Hammond, chairman of the State Road commission, has issued an appeal to all drivers of automobiles to join in a state-wide movement to end Utah's tremendous tremen-dous traffic fatality toll. With 87 killed and scores seriously Injured Injur-ed by automobiles during the first seven months of the year, Utah stands as one of the worst accident acci-dent states in the nation. Part of the accidents are due to defective automobiles poor tires, poor brakes, or poor lights. For the sake of the driver himself him-self and of his family, every automobile au-tomobile should be kept in first class mechanical condition.. Many accidents are due to carelessness such as driving at high speeds, passing on hills or curves, and passing where there is not sufficient suffi-cient clearance to get around the car ahead. Hitting the loose gravel gra-vel on road shoulders at high speed has claimed a number of victims in Utah this year. All of which resolves itself into just two words "Drive Carefully!" "Drive Carefully, Courteously and Cautiously and Live!" "Drive Carelessly, Contemptuously Contemptu-ously and Callously and Die!" |
