Show Youth Has Fling- In Delightful Musical "Eabcs On Broadway," which opens at the Rivoli theatre Thursday, Thurs-day, proves one thing youth still maintains its supremacy in the motion picture world. A splendidly contrived combination combina-tion of music, dancing, comedy, and pathos, this new M-G-M picture pic-ture serves as the perfect show window for the talents of its co-stars, co-stars, Mickey Rooney and Judy Garland. I Literally full of music, the picture pic-ture also offers Virginia Weidler in a departure from her usual dramatic dra-matic role, singing and dancing. Tvo other notable additions are Ray McDonald and Richard Quine, newcomers from the New York stage, with Fay Bainter, Donald Meek and Alexander Woollcott represented in adult roles. The impersonations by Mickey and Judy bring down the house, as does Judy's singing of "Chin Up, Cherrio, Carry On," "Bomb- j shell from Brazil," which serves ; to introduce Mickey in a Carmen I Miranda impersonation, "Rings On ' My Fingers Bells On My Toes," a la Blanche Ring, and "Mary Is a ' Grand Old Name," as made famous fam-ous by Fay Templeton. |
