Show "How A Loyal Student Can Become A Loyal American." By LETA EKKER 7th Grade Before a student can become a loyal American, he must first be a loyal member of his family, a loyal student of his school, and a loyal citizen of his community. By obeying all the school laws he becomes a loyal student of his school. The school in turn does much to help him become a loyal American. At the sound of the first bell he is taught to hurry to his home room. As the second rings, no matter where he may be, he stands at attention. He remains at attention until the bugles finish playing "colors" -and the flag is up. Thus he begins each school day with the thought of "Old Glory" foremost in his mind. In every class he becomes a better bet-ter citizen through the knowledge he gains. He learns to know and understand his country, its natural natur-al resources, its industries, . its scenic wonders, and its ideals. This helps him to love and appreciate the wonderful country in which he lives. Man appreciates most of the things for which he sacrifices and works, and so he becomes more loyal with every defense stamp he buys. His school arouses his enthusiasm en-thusiasm by having competition among all the home room classes. At school he learns the Nation- al Anthem and many other patriotic patrio-tic songs. He also learns the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. His patriotism pat-riotism grows as he takes part on patriotic and other school assemblies assem-blies with his fellow student. When vacation time comes, he can serve his country well by helping the farmers who feed our nation. In time of war, his help is especially needed. He can thin and top beets and help in the harvesting har-vesting of all .kinds of fruits, grains, and vegetables. He can help in the canning factories and other places where food is prepared pre-pared and stored. Thus, as he becoms a better member of his school, and a more helpful citizen of his community, he also becomes a more loyal American. |
