Show ROAD COMMISSION CREATES NEW DISTRICT W. D. Hammond, chairman of the State Road commission, hag announced the creation of a new administrative district with headquarters head-quarters at Provo. Heretofore, the state has been divided into five administrative districts under the immediate supervision of district engineers. Headquarters for district 1 is Ogden; district 2, Salt Lake City; district 3, Richfield; district 4, Price; district 5, Cedar City; district dis-trict 6 is made up of territory formerly in districts 2 and 4. Utah county, Wasatch county, and a part of Juab county have been taken from district 2, and Duchesne Du-chesne and Uintah counties have been taken from district 4. The purpose of the change is to bring about a more efficient supervision of state roads by lessening less-ening the miles of road for which each engineer is responsible. Under Un-der the setup which provides that the counties and cities of the state receive annually $800,000 of state road funds, the state road commission's com-mission's engineers have cooperated cooperat-ed closely with the counties and cities in the improvement of their roads and streets, which has involved in-volved considerable time and effort ef-fort on the part of the engineering engineer-ing force. |
