Show Mapleton Fruit Growers Appointed to Administrative Committee Organization of the administrative administra-tive committee to direct Utah's peach marketing and handling agreement is completed and members mem-bers of the committee are announced an-nounced by Dr. A. L. Stark, extension exten-sion horticulturist at Utah State Agricultural college. Secretary of Agriculture Wallace Wal-lace selected the committee members mem-bers from a group of nominees whose names were submitted to him by growers and handlers. This action was taken after the secretary secre-tary approved the marketing agreement. Chosen to represent growers are: Salt Lake-Davis district: William Wil-liam J. Christensen of Bountiful, member; George B. Andrus of Murray, alternate. Weber district: Joseph W. Jensen of Roy, member; mem-ber; William H. Warren of North Ogden, alternate. Washington district: dis-trict: A. P. Spillsbury of Toquer-ville, Toquer-ville, member; Reed Wilson of La-Verkin, La-Verkin, alternate. South Utah district: dis-trict: Joseph Carnesecca of Mapleton, Maple-ton, member; Frank Robertson of Mapleton, alternate. North Utah district: James B. Ferguson of Orem, member; D. Arlo Allen of Orem, alternate. Box Elder district: dis-trict: Perry Dalton of Brigham City, member; Jack White of Wil-lard, Wil-lard, alternate. E. O. Muir of Salt Lake City, member, and Sterling H. Nelson of Salt Lake City, alternate, will represent rep-resent shippers who ship in car load lots by railroad. Ray Loveless Love-less of Provo, member, and Roy E. Snooks of North Ogden, alter- -nate, are the representatives of cooperative associations of producers pro-ducers which are shippers,, and J. George Stratton of Provo, and Roy Park of Provo, alternate, represent repre-sent shippers who do not come under either of the above two classes. Regulations have been set up governing peaches shipped from the Washington district to points outside of the state, Dr. Stark said. These regulations call for a minimum of U. S. No. 1 two-inch peaches and under the agreement no other peaches can be shipped out of the state from the Dixie territory. As yet no regulations have been set up for other parts of the state, and Dr. Stark stressed stress-ed the point that growers should contact their committee member or alternate and inform him the size and grade of peaches they would irke to ship. A meeting will be held August 15 at the County Agricultural agent's office in the Post Office building at Salt Lake City to formulate desired regulations regula-tions to suggest to the administrative adminis-trative committed, i The administrative committee has the power to make the regulation regu-lation desired by the growers, but after the regulations are set up the United States government will enforce the law. |
